A snippet from childhood always flows through my mind whenever I contemplate the wind, "...Who has seen the wind? Neither you nor I: but when the trees bow down their heads, the wind is passing by." thought provoking and marvelous even then :) ...just be...
What a beautiful invitation you sent to us in your words, Cheryl. They freed me and now I, too, can become the wind. I wanted so much to become that transformation, that transmutation ... and yes, each becoming begat another thing yet to further become. Somehow this process began to feel so draining ... somehow my joy seemed rather transitory as I reached another perceived level. Perhaps I can be joy simply in my flowing - what a paradigm shift this gift of life becomes when we become, as you say, like the wind. Thank you dear Cheryl!
Wow, synchronicity today for me reading this from you Cheryl. I have been "trying so hard" to find something I can't even define. To "hear" what I think I am supposed to hear. To know the unknown. I guess to grow my sense of spirituality. Your writing helps me to release all the shoulds and just be. Let whatever "it" is flow and carry me with it. Beautiful words. What a gift you have. What a gift you are for me today. Thank you.
More: As a pilot, the wind was always a factor. I did not appreciate head winds that slowed me down, or cross winds that made landing more challenging, but tail winds got me to where I was going faster…
In H.S., we had a great English teacher who had us memorize and recite poetry. One stanza of a poem has been with me my whole life long and has had even more meaning for me as I have been "surrendering" to Spirit, "Be in me as the eternal moods of the bleak wind, and not as transient things are—gaiety of flowers." I so love the synchronicity of your writing this now, about us, and the wind. Here's the whole poem, by Ezra Pound:
Thank you, Cheryl. I so enjoy your writings. This one was especially helpful as I have been trying to learn everything I can about spirituality. Some people I know say they see or hear things when they meditate. I try to meditate and nothing happens. I feel like a failure, like I’m doing something wrong. I guess I should just relax and not expect anything.
Oh, Cheryl, how lovely you write. This reminds me of a scene in the beautiful movie, The History of Sound (on Hulu😉). The main character, Lionel, is explaining sound to two young children. “Sound is invisible but it can be physical. It can touch something. It can make an impression.” He has them touch their throats while they hum so they can feel the vibration. Invisible things that touch us: wind, sound, spirit and I’m sure some other things we’re not even aware of yet. You’re a gem, Cheryl☺️
Thank you, Cheryl. I treasured reading this. As a child I would walk home from school, myself. The wind was my favorite companion. When it moved along I would sometimes feel pushed forward... just enough to lift higher, jump further. I loved those moments so much and that is a joy to remember.
Oh Wow Cheryl ~ this is mind blowing of all the cobwebs of ego ~ free as a breeze, no form to conform to. A Beingness in All-ness. A gentle breeze of love in motion. It was beautiful to read. Much love to you ~ I just love this ~ thank you xxxx
Thank you so much for these profound thoughts.
Cheryl, you had me at hello. That first sentence about the wind went through my whole being like thunder. Great topic, thank you.
Thanks so much, my dear. Truly!
"The Wind has no constraints.
The Wind has no box.
The Wind has no questions.
The Wind has nothing to prove."

Thanks, Wendy! Yes, releasing all of those ‘shoulds’ is real work at times! LOL!

I cannot even begin to explain the synchronicity of reading this this morning. Thank you Cheryl.
Thanks, Odet!
This felt to me like a fresh breeze ruffling my hair. Brilliant! Thank you.

Be in me as the eternal moods
Of the bleak wind, and not
As transient things are—gaiety of flowers.
Have me in the strong loneliness
Of sunless cliffs
And of grey waters.
Let the gods speak softly of us
In days hereafter,
The shadowy flowers of Orcus
Remember thee.
